About us

Mission

NPower aims to reduce nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) emissions and rebalance nutrient flows across key sectors. By advancing nutrient recovery technologies, best management practices (BMPs), and governance measures, the project will contribute to more efficient and circular nutrient use, minimising environmental impact while supporting agricultural and industrial sustainability.

Objectives

Rebalance N/P flows at regional scale through dynamic nutrient budgeting adapted to diverse European contexts.

Demonstrate six circular recovery technologies across sectors like agriculture, wastewater, aquaculture, and waste management.

Develop eight recovered fertilisers from residual nutrient-rich streams, offering alternatives to synthetic inputs.

Co-design and validate 20 Best Management Practices (BMPs) to improve nutrient use efficiency and reduce environmental losses.

Deliver a governance toolkit including participatory approaches, guidelines, and policy instruments for sustainable nutrient management.

Foster multi-actor collaboration by setting up Regional Clusters involving agriculture, water, industry, energy, and transport sectors.

Generate long-term scientific, environmental, social, and economic impact, supporting ecosystem restoration and EU policy goals.

Partners

NPower’s mission is to advance sustainable nutrient management through innovation, collaboration, and policy integration. Our consortium of 25 partners from agriculture, industry, research, and governance work together to achieve impactful and scalable solutions.
