Improving Nutrient Use Efficiency in Forestry

Workshop on Best Practices for Sustainable Forestry Management

On 8 April 2026, the Finnish Regional Cluster of NPower will host an online workshop focused on improving nutrient use efficiency in forestry through Best Management Practices (BMPs).

The session will review forestry practices aimed at reducing nutrient runoff and protecting water systems, with a particular focus on reducing nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) losses while improving nutrient use.

The workshop will begin with a short introduction to the NPower project and previous activities, followed by a presentation of forestry BMPs identified through prior research.

The workshop will create space for discussion around the challenges and opportunities of applying these practices in real forestry contexts. It will bring together different perspectives from across the sector, encouraging the exchange of experiences and approaches to nutrient management.

Through this collaborative setting, participants will be able to reflect on current practices and explore additional opportunities to strengthen sustainability and circularity in forestry systems.

This workshop contributes to strengthening knowledge exchange and supporting more sustainable and resource-efficient forestry practices in Finland.
