NPower joins the conversation on rural bioeconomy in Ireland

Cork, Ireland / 9 April 2025

Munster Technological University, as part of the NPower consortium, took part in a two-day event focused on sustainable dairy systems and the grassland bioeconomy. Organised by MTU’s Circular Bioeconomy Research Group (CircBio), together with Farm Zero C and Teagasc, the event brought together stakeholders from across Europe at MTU Cork campus, creating space for discussion, knowledge exchange and collaboration around the future of rural sustainability.

With participants from Denmark, Poland, Sweden, Greece, the UK, and Ireland, the event featured 10 guest speakers and two site visits — one to the Farm Zero C demonstration site and another to Teagasc’s Moorepark Food Research Centre, both offering hands-on insights into real-life bioeconomy practices.

Through a presentation on the NPower project, delivered to a group of 30 stakeholders from industry, academia, civil society, and the practitioner community, new connections were made and meaningful exchanges took place. Attendees explored NPower’s vision for nutrient circularity, while gaining key perspectives on how bioeconomy principles are being put into practice in Ireland.
