Workshop on Best Practices for Circular Energy Systems
On 22 April 2026, the Finnish Regional Cluster of NPower will host an online workshop focused on nutrient recycling and efficient use in the energy and transport sectors, with a particular emphasis on biogas systems.
The session will explore Best Management Practices (BMPs) identified through prior research, focusing on how to improve circularity in energy systems through the use of organic feedstocks, waste streams and by-products. It will examine how these systems can reduce nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) losses while generating value from digestate, energy and other outputs.
The workshop will create space for discussion around the challenges and opportunities associated with nutrient recycling in biogas and transport systems. It will bring together different perspectives from across the sector, encouraging the exchange of experiences and current approaches to nutrient management.
In this collaborative setting, participants will be able to reflect on existing practices and explore further opportunities — including underutilised approaches — to strengthen sustainability and circularity in the energy sector.
This workshop contributes to strengthening knowledge exchange and advancing more sustainable and circular energy systems in Finland.
