Energy and Transport Workshop on Best Management Practices
On 5 March 2026, the Irish Regional Cluster will host an online workshop focused on identifying and strengthening Best Management Practices (BMPs) within the energy and transport sector, with a particular emphasis on agri-food waste valorisation.
This session will bring together stakeholders involved in renewable energy systems, biogas and biomethane development, transport infrastructure, agri-food processing, and local communities. The aim is to explore how these sectors can contribute to reducing nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) emissions while improving circularity and resource efficiency.
During the workshop, participants will review examples of BMPs identified through prior research and exchange practical experiences from their own activities. Together, the group will examine how energy production, transport logistics, and waste valorisation systems interact with regional nutrient flows. The session will also include a collaborative exercise to identify potential, yet unexploited, practices based on local N and P inputs and outputs.
This workshop forms part of the Irish stakeholder collaboration process under NPower, supporting the transition towards more sustainable, circular and climate-aligned agri-food systems.
Participation is open to stakeholders interested in renewable energy, transport infrastructure, biogas networks, agri-food waste valorisation and circular nutrient management.
