NPower in a nutshell EP4: Regional clustering approach to scale European-level solutions

We deep dive into the NPower Project through the words of Miguel Ángel Suárez, project coordinator at CETENMA. Across four episodes, we explore the significance of NPower for the Region of Murcia, its integrated vision for nutrient management, the innovative technologies it employs, and its approach to regional collaboration at the European level. Each post highlights a key episode from this interview, offering a deeper insight into NPower’s goals and impact.

The final video expands on NPower’s broader impact, highlighting its European dimension. The nutrient problem isn’t unique to Murcia; it’s a challenge across Europe. NPower addresses this by establishing four regional clusters: Murcia, Belgium, Finland, and Ireland. This approach allows for the exchange of knowledge, good practices, and governance measures that are “replicable among themselves” despite regional differences.

The project aims to measure its impact primarily through its results, with a strong focus on dissemination. “The project does not want to stay in a drawer,” Suárez states, “Once we have the results, it is not about keeping them to ourselves but disseminating them as much as possible, and that way, impact will be created”.

The Mar Menor serves as more than just a pilot site; it’s the “aggregating element that brings together all the actors in the region to work for a common good”. It’s also seen as a “pilot, so to speak, of environmental management at a global level,” reflecting its significance beyond regional borders.
