Over the coming months, NPower’s four Regional Clusters in Spain, Belgium, Finland and Ireland will host a series of workshops dedicated to the project’s five key emitting sectors: Agriculture, Other Primary Sectors, Water and Waste, Energy and Transport, and Industry. These events mark the launch of the Multi-Actor Transition (MAT) Groups, a central part of the project’s strategy to connect local stakeholders and co-create practical solutions for smarter nutrient management.
The MAT workshops are conceived as collaborative spaces where farmers, practitioners, researchers, industry representatives, policymakers and civil society organisations can work together. Each session provides an opportunity to discuss innovative technologies, explore best management practices and examine governance approaches, while at the same time adapting solutions to the specific realities of each region.
Participation in these workshops also strengthens connections between peers from different sectors and communities, helping to build stronger local and regional networks. By bringing diverse actors to the same table, the MAT groups create the conditions for dialogue and mutual learning, and foster an environment where shared solutions can emerge.
At a broader level, the workshops are part of a European dialogue on nitrogen and phosphorus management. Local experiences and challenges will feed into EU-level strategies, ensuring that knowledge flows both ways and that regional insights help to shape effective policy action. This link between practice and policy is essential for the project’s ambition of promoting a circular economy of nutrients across Europe.
The MAT cycles are designed to build active communities of practice around nutrient circularity and to promote the exchange of knowledge between science, policy and practice. Their ultimate aim is to co-create actionable pathways for reducing nitrogen and phosphorus emissions in each sector, ensuring that the transition towards sustainable nutrient use is both practical and regionally relevant.
All upcoming workshops will be announced and updated in the Events section of the NPower website, where agendas, and registration links will be available.
